TODAY’S ASTRO:

The day begins with the Moon in Capricorn, and we’re still in the Void-of-Course period, so the nebulous mood may linger through the period when Mercury joins Mars in Pisces at 12:57 PM EST today. It’s like one of those horror movies where the heroes are plopped down in the middle of a dark cave–they know there’s something lurking in the depths, but they don’t know what it is, how many of “it” is lurking, or how dangerous it is. They just start shooting wildly at every little noise. Be careful to assess situations properly today; don’t overreact. Snippy, snipe-y comments, veiled insults may be popular today. People feel out of sorts but aren’t sure what to do with it, then decide that stirring the murky waters is a way to take their mind off their own problems.

At 2:18 PM EST the Moon enters Aquarius and it’s easier for us to detach and change focus. It’s a great day for charity work, group endeavors and anything that involves actions that benefit the many as opposed to the few, especially as the Moon connects with Neptune at 6:11 PM EST. This time period is ideal for meditation or connecting with higher forces, as we;re hearing the music of the spheres!

Later this evening (11:14 PM EST), Mercury connects with Uranus, so if you’re awake, be sure to write down any ideas or psychic flashes that hit you tonight. This combination is very  inventive and a little shocking (Mercury, ruling the mind, connects with Uranus, ruler of the higher mind), so we can channel that electricity like our own private Edison!

Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “A woman disappointed and disillusioned.”

It’s not exactly a Cheery Symbols Day, is it? However, both of these are “negative” symbols, which imply the opposite in their expanded meanings.

The Kozminsky Symbol today is quite Aquarian. The man with chains is suffering because he has focused his life on eliminating injustice and “fighting the good fight”. He is being punished for his beliefs. The key word is “heralding”, another term related to Aquarius. Aquarius is a future-oriented sign, and many Aquarians have a unique focus or way of looking at the world that’s not always understood by others around them during their own time. If you have Aquarian friends you may know what I mean! The man in the Kozminsky Symbol isn’t going to stop fighting even though he is in chains, because he’s looking to the future.

Today we may find ourselves confronting injustice of some kind, or we may need to assert our own individuality in the face of oppression or opposition. The emphasis is to keep our eye on long-term goals in spite of any short-term setbacks that pop up. Many inventions, ideas and theories that have dramatically changed our world were originally thought of as stupid or useless by the majority when they were first  introduced.

The Sabian Symbol is about regret. It’s like backing the wrong horse in a race and losing all your money. You can’t get the money back, but you can learn from the experience. It also speaks of the hollowness of relying on something external to make you happy.  The key point is that fulfillment lies within; that’s the lesson the unhappy woman pictured in this Symbol is meant to learn. The positive side of this Symbol relates to learning from experience, coming back from a defeat, discovering who you are and what is really important  as you learn the true value of things.Often these times enable us to make major changes in the structure of our lives.

The down side is becoming consumed with grief to the point that you give up or lose hope. Don’t collapse too easily; keep going. This Symbol relates to today’s Pisces planets. With Chiron, Mars, Neptune and Mercury all lined up in Pisces, we may have gone after something that was a chimera, and are brought back to earth with a thump when we discover that it wasn’t real, (or wasn’t what we wanted it to be). “Smoke gets in your eyes”, as the song goes. It’s painful, but this experience allows us to sympathize with others and to use the what we’ve learned to move on and find something real that can sustain us.

8 of Swords / Ace of Swords

Here’s our chained man speaking out against injustice and our disappointed woman at the moment she realizes she has to make a new start. This combination tells us it’s time to leave our “no-win” situation and change the way we think. Both of the figures in today’s Symbols are in a state of paralysis; they’re chained down or loaded down, both symbolically and literally. Change is coming, new ideas frighten people, so it may be hard to take the first step forward to release yourself from your captivity.

Since the Ace has made an appearance, there’s no choice. You’re already in the middle of it. Air cards reflect mental states and these two show us that limited belief systems and fears are holding you back. It’s a time of cutting through illusions (we have several planets in Pisces right now and the waters can get murky indeed) in order to see with clarity. This isn’t necessarily going to be easy, as illustrated in the Kozminsky Symbol, but it’s something that has to be done. Staying in the same place is crazy-making. Realize it’s time to honor your own strength. Rearrange your mind, it’s time!
