The Daily Astro for June 5, 2013

TODAY’S ASPECTS:
Today’s major aspect is the Moon in Taurus trine Pluto in Capricorn at 9:25 AM EDT. The Moon is quite comfortable in Taurus, and the trine is a flowing aspect, but since the trine is to Pluto, expect that the themes of the day will be purging, restructuring, releasing and “trimming the fat”, all very Plutonian. It can also indicate a blast from the past as old friends or contacts pop up. This is just a reminder that it’s time to take care of any unfinished business. Figure out what was going on in your life when you met and associated with this person-it’s likely you’ll feel more than a little twinge of déjà-vu.
It’s also a good time to go over accounts and get your finances in order or decide to make a new budget or change your investment plans. Start by doing a little research to see if what you’ve been doing still makes sense now.
After the trine to Pluto, the Moon goes Void of Course until it enters Gemini at 11:32 PM EDT tomorrow. During this time, we can accomplish a great deal if we focus on behind the scenes work or finishing something previously started. Given the get-rid-of-old-crap theme, it’d be a good time to clean out an attic or basement or some other project that’s been stalled. We may find we have more stamina now. We’re taking inventory, deciding what we really need and want to take with us into the future and what’s outmoded or outgrown. Those of you who like antiques or haunt flea markets may find that repurposing, refinishing, and/or reconfiguring something old to enhance its usefulness is very rewarding. The message here? Some old things have value and are worth hanging on to, others, like 8-track players, had a purpose at one time (well, sort of), but aren’t worth the space it takes to store them anymore.
FYI: With Mercury, Uranus and Pluto in T-square formation, expect surprises, derailments and sudden or shocking news, possibly about a life-or-death or crisis situation. Things can change quickly, so it’s necessary to be flexible, ready to jump into action if necessary. That’s one reason it’d be wise not to plan too much for today and tomorrow. Don’t set up crucial appointments or start new projects now. This influence may also make us feel a little “wired”, like we’re poised nervously waiting for something –but we’re not sure what. Words and communication are very important –and very powerful –now. This combination reminds me of a hypnotic state—using words in an unusual way to take someone into another area of consciousness. It’d be a good day to visit a hypnotist, especially if you’re trying to break long-standing patterns related to addictions. Topics related to food addictions, anorexia, bulimia or other eating disorders may make the news today and tomorrow.
THE SYMBOLS:
Sabian Symbol for today’s SUN: “A woman suffragist haranguing.”
Kozminsky Symbol for today’s SUN: “A sword lying shattered before a cross of stone.”
The Keyword for the Sabian Symbol is: “INDIGNATION.”
The Keyword for the Kozminsky Symbol is: “SPIRITUAL VICTORY.”
Both of today’s Symbols have an underlying concept: “Fight for what’s right.” We may see reflections of it in the world today, as disenfranchised people rise to claim their rights or people act based on the precepts of their spiritual belief system. I’d expect some news related to gay rights or gay marriage to be front and center today.
The Kozminsky Symbol points out the long-term futility of relying upon force to hold people back; the Sabian Symbol tells us that an idea whose time has come possesses great power. Both Symbols point to the need for faith and being true to what we believe in. Themes of faith, truth, justice, sacrifice for an ideal, and persistence in the face of great resistance are also common to both Symbols.
The Sabian Symbol tells us today may be a day when you have to stand up for your rights. We may feel something isn’t fair or that we are being excluded from the mainstream. We may feel we need to get the word out about a particular situation. Women had to fight for years before they finally got the vote, so we need to be patient and willing to stay in it for the long haul. Words are powerful, so choose them wisely. Our arguments must be well-crafted and convincing in order to draw attention to our cause. Going over the top may just anger people and provoke unpredictable reactions (remember today’s T-square). The goal is cooperation and respecting the rights of others. The down side here is having outmoded beliefs, discriminating against others based on incorrect opinions or a feeling of superiority (women were once regarded as too emotional and basically air-headed to be trusted with the vote). Be careful you’re not justifying your actions by using blind faith or dogma as a prop, rather than attempting to see all sides of an issue.
THE DAILY DRAW:
Ace of Swords / Chariot
“Mind Control.” This combination tells us the wheels are spinning—it’s all happening right now. Be in the moment. Sudden change is possible, or we’re called away unexpectedly. Make sure the car is tuned up and the tank is full! We have a bright idea that saves the day. New horizons beckon. We both want and fear change. Change causes anxiety, but we’re tossing excess baggage over the rail now in order to gain momentum. Make sure your fears aren’t running away with you. We need to take control of those brainwaves and direct our thoughts properly. This can relate to fighting words, or else we’re deliberately trying to provoke someone, challenging their mindset because we know we have the edge. We may find it difficult to control our urges today or overindulge because we “just can’t stop ourselves”. There’s an area of our lives where we may feel out of whack—where do you need to “rein it in”? Uniting the power of the mind with our instinctual drives can be very powerful–it’s a force to be reckoned with, if a proper balance is achieved.
