The Daily Astro for October 4, 2012
There’s a lot happening today! We started the day with three wonky aspects to the Moon (to Mars, Mercury and Saturn) prior to 7:47 AM EDT when the Moon enters the sign Gemini, so we may have felt a little agitated, depressed or worried at the start of the day; maybe we went to sleep with a lot on our mind last night. The Moon in Gemini lightens the energy a bit and helps open communication pathways, although early in the day we might find that people, especially women, are distracted and aren’t particularly interested in our agenda. Jupiter moves retrograde in Gemini at 9:18 AM, which may exponentially increase the “ditzing out factor” for a while until we get used to the rhythm. We may be bombarded with stimulus and information and can find it hard to concentrate as we may be getting a different opinion from everyone today. We may find that we need to withdraw and figure out what is right for us rather than get drawn into the Tower of Babel! We may snap to it later as the Moon sextiles Uranus in Aries; write down any good ideas as they’re apt to be fleeting.
Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “Miners emerging from a mine .”
Kozminsky Symbol for today’s Sun: “ A man falling from an insecure and broken bridge into a dark pit below.”
Keyword for the Sabian Symbol is: “Escape.”
The Keyword for the Kozminsky Symbol is “Timidity .”
It’s interesting that both of today’s Symbols feature the image of some sort of darkness or “pit”. In the Sabian Symbol, the miners, who ventured underground for a purpose, emerge from the darkness to return to their regular daily routine. It’s a metaphor for our psychological journey, of being able to brave the darkness to bring back a reward. The saying “it’s a dirty job, but someone has to do it” applies here. There’s a call to venture deeper and persist even in situations that seem dangerous. (The Neil Young line, “I”ve been a miner for a heart of gold” popped into my head while I was writing this!)
The Kozminsky Symbol is another version of this theme. In this case, the man has not been paying attention and is precipitated from the broken bridge into a dark pit-he’s being forced to confront the darkness unprepared, unlike the miners. His own fears and timidity have placed him in a dangerous situation that will be hard to escape from. The miners have each other to rely upon; the man alone has only himself. Today’s Symbols seem to reflect some of the Moon aspects we’re experiencing today as the Moon in Gemini flits from aspect to aspect, creating a fragmented vision. The last aspect of the day is the Moon in an uncomfortable aspect to Pluto (Lord of the Underworld), so we may resist being immersed in the dark world, even though we know it’s an essential step towards our own evolution. We need to avoid distractions and concentrate on what feeds our soul.

Today’s Card Draw:
Today’s deck is again “The Crystal Oracle” by Toni Carmine Salerno
Go to http://www.tonicarminesalerno.com/crystaloracle.htm for more information about this deck.
Today’s card is: CHAROITE
Charoite is a mid-to-deep purple stone.
The keywords for this card are “ACCEPTANCE”, “GENEROSITY”, “CLARITY” and “INNER VISION”. Salerno regards charoite as one of the spiritual crystals that “helps awaken higher wisdom”. She adds, “You are being asked to accept the current events and bring your focus within”. The emphasis here is on meditation, being still, and allowing your inner knowledge to act as your guide.
Salerno advises a reliance on trusting that things are OK, even if things are confusing, and understand “there is a divine order to the madness. It is only through love and acceptance that the divine order can be seen.” She adds “you will be touched by someone’s generosity in the next few days.”
In relation to today’s aspects and Symbols, charoite ties in with the “mind spelunking” theme. Today we’re called to accept what is and take “one step beyond” by venturing deeper within for clarity and to open ourselves to the source. Like the miners going underground in the Sabian Symbol or the man falling from a bridge, we have to lose our fear of the dark and use the experience to bring forth something useful.
