The Daily Astro for August 16, 2012
The Moon’s in Leo today. The furor of the past few days has subsided a bit, but it’s still reverberating in the background, sending psychic shivers through the atmosphere as a subtone. Plus we’re now at the dark-of-the-Moon phase right before the New Moon (tomorrow), so finish up anything that’s still hanging — get done with it so you can move forward on the New Moon. Venus squares Uranus in Aries at 2:48 AM EDT today, jolting us out of our dreams. People are going to be doing their own thing today, whatever that may be, since the Moon will also trine Uranus at 5:04 PM. Don’t be surprised by any weird emotional outbursts/ultimatums (“I gotta be me!”) or declarations of independence. Think of those 1960s-70s pop songs where the singer announced he couldn’t be tied down/it was time for him to “move on”. Just let people go their own way and do whatever they want today, even if it takes them to Bizarro World HQ. Everybody’s going to have to make adjustments since the Moon also aspects Pluto, Chiron, Neptune and Mars later on. Deep down, people know what they have to do to feel better and balance their lives, but since we’re all operating on dark-of-the-Moon energies, things can devolve into a soupy mess of confusion. Meditation or contemplation might be a nice idea tonight, if we’re not still too wired or worn out dealing with today’s wacky energy!
Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “An untidy, unkempt man”.
Kozminsky Symbol for today’s Sun: “A poet reading his verses to a group of ladies in an old castle garden.”
The Keyword for the Sabian Symbol is: “Imperturbability”.
The Keyword for the Kozminsky Symbol is “Proportion”.
The Sabian Symbol reflects the not-so-positive side of today’s Uranus aspects. This is the “absent-minded professor” look carried a bit too far. Living “out of body” too much can lead us to neglect more practical matters and even our own well-being. It’s important to establish a daily routine to keep us grounded. This Symbol also shows the disregard for social approval that is often found in pioneers or people who are completely focused on a particular goal. Originally, this Symbol was described as a yogic figure, so the disregard for the material was an emphasis on the inner or spiritual nature of the quest. The Kozminsky Symbol is a nice one for a Leo Moon–a man reading his creative works. Leo is connected to speaking from the heart and to the 5th house of creative endeavors and romance, and the setting–an old castle garden–is about as romantic as it gets! Of course, we can’t forget that gaggle of ladies paying rapt attention to the Leo figure (Leos love appreciation and applause for their creative efforts!)

Today’s 2-Card Tarot Draw: Knight of Wands/3 of Cups
“Let’s Get This Party Started”. Our live-wire fire card, the Knight of Wands, mingles with the “let’s hoist a few and celebrate” 3 of Cups. There may not be a lot of permanence in this combination, but it could be enjoyable if we don’t expect it to last forever. This combination reminds me of people going on a cruise ship vacation. They’re traveling, changing location constantly, but since they’re not driving or in charge of the details, they can focus on having a good time. It also could be a situation where people decide to take a “fun break” before they start a new job (no more vacations for a while!) or the honeymoon period in a new relationship.
