The Daily Astro for March 21, 2013
by Valerie Sylvester
TODAY’S ASTRO:
The Moon remains in Cancer today. The Moon is Void-of-Course until 2:51 AM EDT tomorrow, when it enters Leo, so we’re in a state of suspended animation today, feeling “out of time”. This is amplified by a Saturn/Chiron trine, which can bring to the fore issues related to timing, planning (use of time) on the Saturn side, and access to timeless healing tools (Chiron) on the other. The image I get is of a wise elder, a hermit (as in the tarot card) who cycles through life outside of what we consider the normal parameters of time. It’s a good period to access your inner hermit/healer. Consider combining traditional methods with maverick or “outsider” ideas; use the best from both worlds to create something new.
There aren’t many other major aspects during the rest of the day. Venus enters Aries at 11:15 PM EDT, joining the Sun, Mars and Uranus in that sign. Venus in Aries is a warrior goddess, so don’t expect shy and demure behavior. As Venus also relates to values and desires, we’re inclined to go out and get what we want, rather than sit home and dream about it. It helps us define our boundaries and stand up for what we believe in. Venus in Aries doesn’t want to get tangled up in details; it’s straight-line, cut to the chase all the way.
Today’s helpful hint: Take it easy, rest up for tomorrow, which looks like a big box of dynamite sitting in a puddle of gasoline and somebody’s just lit the fuse!
THE SYMBOLS:
Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “A comedian entertaining a group.”
Kozminsky Symbol for today’s Sun: “A hawk standing on a square black rock bathed in the rays of the rising sun”.
The Keyword for the Sabian Symbol is: “RELEASE”.
The Keyword for the Kozminsky Symbol is “RASHNESS”.
“Rashness” is a good keyword for an essential element of the Aries nature, and the Kozminsky Symbol shows the results of a rather rash decision. Kozminsky doesn’t give many details, but we do wonder what the man with the sword was doing up on the roof diving through that glass skylight. It’s an image of ready courage and bravery coupled with a lack of restraint. Very swashbuckling, though–I can see John Barrymore dashing around from rooftop to rooftop as he pursues an opponent. Self-control is an issue here, and right timing. Keep this image in mind during the next week or two as the planetary aspects heat up. Accidents may occur. Don’t take foolish risks, pay attention to details, notice who’s around you and what they’re up to, and don’t let yourself get so angry you lose control or focus. Avoid road ragers and other people who are looking for a fight as a way to release their own pent-up anger and frustration.
The Sabian Symbol also involves taking a risk, but this one’s more of a calculated risk. The comedian puts himself/herself front and center and tests out their routine in front of a crowd. Obviously this Symbol relates to humor and the ability to see the lighter side of life, so one meaning is “Lighten up! Don’t take everything so seriously.” A comedian has to be on top of things, ready to switch material at a moment’s notice if it doesn’t connect with the crowd, so there’s quick reaction time and agility are important, even though our hero is wielding words rather than a sword. Learning how to communicate with a variety of people is also highlighted here–you have to know the crowd before you can “work the crowd.” down side of this symbol is making a fool of yourself or “putting on a show” that diverts attention from who you really are. It can also mean being inappropriate or not knowing your audience.
Both Symbols emphasize the importance of being quick-witted, agile and knowing when to land the “punch line”. Poor timing and rash action don’t produce the desired results and can lead to a crash landing.
THE DAILY DRAW:
Devil / 5 of Swords
“Forked Tongue”. Pay attention to what people say . There may be more than a few heated exchanges in the next week or two. People may just lose it as all the things they’ve tried so hard to bury get exhumed. We may find ourselves ashamed of things we’ve said. We may not like what we hear from others because it hits us at a weak point or an area we really really don’t want to look at.
Having a good sense of humor (see the Sabian Symbol, above) helps take the edge off, although the humor might tend to be a little dark. The veil of illusion drops and our inner soundtrack may be a series of guttural screams. Some may drive themselves over the edge, so be careful what you say to people who are channeling their inner demons. For some it will be time to “let it all hang out” and finally say things they’ve bottled up for years. Throat and throat chakra issues are in the spotlight. What do you finally need to hear? What needs to be expressed? What are you most ashamed of admitting about yourself?
