The Daily Astro for October 1, 2012
Today has a bit of a split personality. The Full Moon in Aries is still disseminating its energy, and early in the day the Moon (still in Aries), aspects Mars (the ruler of Aries), so there’s a push to get moving and start the week off with a do-it-yourself bang and clatter, but the Moon first parallels and then trines Venus (ruler of Aries’ opposite sign, Libra), which tells us we need to coordinate our activities with others and apply that energy in a cooperative fashion, especially since the Moon moves to Venus-ruled Taurus at 7:26 PM EDT. Venus also aspects Jupiter at 5:17 PM, so we may feel there’s a little bit of luck in our corner today, or we encounter someone who points us in a direction that proves fortuitous for our future plans. The Moon then opposes Saturn at 6:32 PM EDT, which means it’s time to do a slow roll into the evening. If you run into obstacles, take a break and come back later; don’t get depressed over an apparent lack of progress. Saturn is in the last degree of Libra today–what lessons have you learned over the past few years about relationships, balance and fairness that have changed the way you conduct yourself? It may feel like a loss, but these lessons have helped you reorient yourself and establish boundaries in your life. This evening is a great time for any and all “grounding and centering activities”, anything related to the earth (gardening/herbs), pampering yourself, creating or enjoying beautiful things, getting a handle on our finances, or just relaxing as the day winds down. With the Moon sextile Neptune at 9:00 PM, EDT, we can find the spiritual essence and magic in materiality and the things of this earth. We may discover our dreams tonight give us practical advice or seem vividly real. Add to this the Mercury/Pluto aspect that occurs two hours later and we’re like tuning forks, attracting the information that we need, able to delve deep to find the answers we seek. Pay special attention to any messages you may receive in dreams tonight; they may provide a key to a mystery or situation you’ve been mulling over in your mind.
Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “Three old masters hanging in an art gallery .”
Kozminsky Symbol for today’s Sun: “A large pair of scales. Two men quarrelling behind .”
Keyword for the Sabian Symbol is: “Accord.”
The Keyword for the Kozminsky Symbol is “Unevenness. ”
The Kozminsky Symbol certainly expresses the polarity of the Sun in Libra/Moon in Aries duo today. The scales, emblematic of the sign Libra, are shown, with two men fighting behind them. The Libra ideal is to create harmony, balance and unity while being fair and impartial to all. It’s not easy to achieve, and often requires being a mediator between opposing parties, or directing forceful strategic action (which is why there are more than a few famous Libran generals or war heroes) when necessary. The notes for the Sabian Symbol say that the three paintings are representative of the “three souls” of Plato’s scheme: mind or intellect, feeling or emotion, and habit or instinct. The triad is a common theme in world religion and philosophy, and in this instance the three paintings symbolize the total integration of mind, body and soul. This blending and mixing to achieve a balance is the essence of Libra; with Saturn moving through the sign we’ve been asked to evaluate and learn from the lessons of the past (the old masters relate to our heritage or history) and that we should take the best from the past to move into the future. The key to this symbol is the word “accord”–the goal is to avoid the quarrelling seen in the Kozminsky Symbol and by pointing out commonalities, get people to see the benefits of working together to create something that will stand the test of time.

Today’s Card Draw:
This week I’m using the “Dreaming in Color” deck by Mindy Sommers.
Go to http://www.dreamingincolor.us/images.html
Today’s card can be found in the 7th row from the top, if you’d like to see what it looks like.
Today’s card is: MESSAGES
This card ties into this evening’s focus on being aware of patterns and messages from your dreams and your higher mind, indicated by the Moon/Neptune and Mercury/Pluto aspects in force after 9:00 PM EDT tonight. You will be able to bypass the strictures of the rational mind and plug directly into the Source, if you’re so inclined.
This card, according to Sommers, relates to any and all kinds of news, “especially from afar”, all manner and modes of communication/s, and the idea that “information gives ammunition and tools to start new and exciting projects”. When it appears it’s also a warning us to avoid gossip and not give much credence to rumors or idle talk.
