The Daily Astro for August 21, 2012

The Sun’s at 29 degrees Leo–location of the Fixed Star Regulus (“the Heart of the Lion”/ “The Lawgiver”) and the Moon is in Libra.  Early in the day, a Mars/Neptune aspect can make today’s energy seem “buzzy” and intensely unfocused yet strangely “caffeinated” at the same time.  After that, the Moon gets involved with both Neptune and Mars so no one will know what’s going on but will probably want to yell about it anyway, causing more confusion. Keep focused & balanced (heart of the lion/lawgiver, remember?) and you’ll slide on by.  At 8:00 PM EDT, the Moon conjuncts Saturn in Libra, so it’s time to get serious about feelings and relationships. This aspect can bring in a tinge of melancholy or feelings of lack or loss, but try and look at things from both sides. Realize the value of emotional discipline and start directing energy productively in conjunction with others and in accordance with common values and goals.

Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “A mermaid.”
Kozminsky Symbol for today’s Sun: “A man climbing a ladder and helping others who strive behind him. At the top, a veiled figured holds out to him a wreath of stars.”
The Keyword for the Sabian Symbol is: “Importunity”.
The Keyword for the Kozminsky Symbol is “Rewarding”.

The mermaid (today’s Sabian Symbol)is an interesting representation of the lure of other worlds in the form of a creature that is half-woman/half-fish. The mysterious, alluring mermaid (Neptune), attracts men (Mars) with her song, and often these men soon find themselves “out to sea”, caught in a web of confusion (Moon). In ancient myth, sailors were especially tempted by these sirens of the sea and learned to restrain themselves (Saturn) by being lashed to the ship’s mast. So the Sabian Symbol themes tie in nicely with today’s astrological aspects (see above). The advice might be to follow your instincts, but don’t be too quick to dive in without investigating the entire situation, especially if something seems too alluring. The Kozminsky Symbol shows someone with the “heart of a lion”, who is strong and powerful, who remembers to help others along the path (Moon in Libra–consideration for others). He’s worked hard and sacrificed (Moon/Saturn aspect) but reaps the rewards, both material and spiritual, of his choices. The wreath (or crown) of stars also reminds me of  Regulus, the Royal Star, shining above us in the heavens.

Today’s 2-Card Tarot Draw:
I used the Baroque Bohemian Cats’ Tarot today and drew this combo:                                                          The Fortune Teller/The Chariot.

The Fortune Teller is an extra card included with this deck, and it symbolizes our intuition and our  ability to take a peek into the future, to make our own magic. So using that suggestion and pairing it with the Chariot, it means:  trust your instincts, make your move based on your vision and what you “know” instinctively. Channel the otherworldly energies of today’s symbol, the mermaid, and move ahead with the bravery and skill of the Lion (another of today’s totems). Direct your energy positively based on deeply-held principles and knowledge and it’s full speed ahead in a constant state of balanced motion.
