The Daily Astro for June 19, 2012

There’s a New Moon today in Gemini (11:02 AM EDT), and normally we’d be emphasizing start-ups and getting-goings, but this New Moon is at 29 degrees of Gemini, at the very end of the sign, and at 1:33 PM EDT the Moon slides into Cancer. The previous New Moon was in early Gemini on May 20, thus the New Moons “bookend” the sign, suggesting it’s time to take a step back and reflect on all the things that have happened in the past month and assimilate what we’ve learned. It’s also a good idea to evaluate the way we communicate, how we speak, listen, and interact with others, and to spend time fine-tuning those skills. The Moon in Cancer makes us feel a bit nostalgic and inclined to take care of matters on the home front; it also urges us to find ways to replenish ourselves emotionally. A pleasant trine from the Moon to Neptune in Pisces at 7:40 PM EDT may incline us to ruminate on all things ethereal and spiritual. We may be very psychically receptive tonight and our dreams may be full of references to long-lost worlds and mystical quests.

Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “ The first mockingbird in spring. ”
Kozminsky Symbol for today’s Sun: “A child blowing a steel glove from a cube of stone .”

The Keyword for the Sabian Symbol is “Quickening ”.
The Keyword for the Kozminsky Symbol is “Seership ”.

Both of these Symbols relate to beginnings (the child, the first mockingbird) and the ability to take action and to use resources to best advantage. Mockingbirds have strong personalities (if you’ve ever seen any in action, you’ve discovered this–the mockingbirds in our yard dive-bomb cats!) and they aren’t shy about going after what they want. The child in the Kozminsky Symbol starts from a solid basis (the stone is in a cube–that’s about as solid as it gets), and magically produces a protective steel glove from this stone. The references here–steel, stone, armor, bring in Mars/Aries connections and the cube reminds me of the Emperor card.  This is an image of psychic protection and strength. Both Symbols emphasize using all your resources and urge us to be bold, to try or start something new, and to be open to exploring new territory in an unusual way.
These Symbols remind me of the Uranus/Pluto square that’s just about exact right now. Things will break down or morph into something entirely different, systems will fail, and changes must be made, but if we’re bold and adaptable and willing to start over and experiment with new ways of being, huge advances can be made.

Tarot Enhancer/Antidote: The Empress/Justice
“The Balance”. Here two female archetypes combining to remind us of the varied aspects of Venus, the planet affiliated with both cards (Venus is connected with the Empress and Venus rules Libra, associated with the Justice card). Finding the middle way is the message here, being just but also compassionate, fair but generous, detached but loving. Today’s Moon in Cancer (the mother/emotional sustenance archetype, tying in with our two cards for today) urges us to “go deep” and look for the meaning and messages from the past (our own history and the collective history) in order to discover the font of inspiration within.
