The Daily Astro for June 7, 2012
Mercury, the planet related to communication and mental activity, enters watery Cancer at 7:16 AM EDT, and the Moon, ruler of Cancer and connected with emotions, intuition, and feelings, moves to futuristic/detached Aquarius at 10:17 AM EDT. It feels a bit like we’re “out of our element” here, and the dissonance can be jarring, but being propelled out of our comfort zone can also be very liberating –it can spark new ideas. We may find ourselves feeling emotional and empathetic, yet detached enough to see the big picture–a fantastic combination, especially for people involved in the healing professions. Other aspects in play indicate that communication in general can be a bit “off” today in tone, or we may be touchy or overly reactive. Just remember to think before you react to something you read or hear! The Sun/Mars square at 10:30 PM can give rise to arguments and harsh words (both the Sun and Mars are in signs ruled by Mercury). When Mars is in a stress aspect, there’s always a feeling of being blocked and frustrated, and this may cause people to act out or project their angry mood onto others. It cools down a bit after midnight and through tomorrow morning, at least.
Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “Two Chinese men talking Chinese . ”
Kozminsky Symbol for today’s Sun: “An eagle wounded in flight swoops to a mountain ridge, where a brood of young ones rise from the drops of blood.”
The Keyword for the Sabian Symbol is “Difference ”.
The Keyword for the Kozminsky Symbol is “Invulnerability ”.
Both of these Symbols have an underlying theme of special abilities or powers, of being unique or different, an appropriate theme as the Moon enters Aquarius. The Moon relates to our heritage and family history and what we inherit from our ancestors. This is our ‘language’, and we can communicate almost telepathically (Mercury in Cancer plus the Uranian influence from Aquarius) with those who are on our wavelength. The Kozminsky Symbol has the feel of a fairy tale, as the blood of a wounded eagle gives rise to fledgling eagles. The ability to “fly above” turmoil, to continue and thrive despite all odds and to pass on your heritage is the positive manifestation of the Sun square Mars aspect. As Mercury enters Cancer today, we may find that the news is full of references to history or the past, or new information related to past events may come to light. Stories about the home, family and children may be especially emotionally charged at this time, or people may be very invested in “the way things used to be” or may just want to hunker down with their own clan or tight-knit group in order to feel protected.

“Bad Reputation” (as in the Joan Jett song: “I don’t give a damn about my…”). So we’ve had some success, gotten started, gained a reputation as X or Y, but at some point we realize there’s a basic flaw in the situation that will not allow us to progress, or we get tired of having to live up to or support something we don’t care about anymore. We’re not that person now, and we don’t care who people think we are or what we should be doing. We may leave a situation with sadness, but we know it’s time to begin a new chapter. With Mercury in Cancer, we may be thinking about our past history and what we can learn from it; the Moon in Aquarius dares us to reinvent ourselves, to break away from past limitations. There’s a drive to find others who will appreciate and understand our unique qualities, who “speak our language”.
