The Daily Astro for April 20, 2012

Looks like someone pushed the Stubborn Button today! The Moon in feisty Aries squares off with play-by-the-rules Saturn in Libra; then Mercury in let’s-do it-now Aries tangles with Aries’s ruler Mars, located in it-has-to-be-perfect Virgo. And of course, the Sun is now in Taurus, so nobody wants to back down–everybody wants to be right in order to remain in their own comfort zone. Watch your words and the way you present yourself today and remember the word “compromise” needs to be in your vocabulary today. Go hug a tree, have a nice meal, buy yourself some flowers–get grounded and focused so things bounce right off you. Since the Moon’s balsamic (there’s a New Moon in Taurus tomorrow at 3:20 AM EDT) and is also Void of Course for a stretch of several hours, it’s not a great time for start-ups, anyway.
Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “A clear mountain stream .”
Kozminsky Symbol for today’s Sun: “A grey vapour surrounding a bush of red roses upon which is a brilliantly coloured butterfly . ”
The Keyword for the Sabian Symbol is “Resourcefulness ” and for the Kozminsky Symbol it’s “Cultivation ”.

Both of these Symbols focus on quick, fast movements and growth. The mountain stream flows freely and rapidly, the butterfly darts from flower to flower. Both show the need to be constantly moving, to welcome change and to adapt to your surroundings. Of course, there’s always inherently a caution: be careful not to flit from one thing to another–change for change’s sake is not always the answer. The Sabian also emphasizes spiritual refreshment and the flow of creative energy. The grey vapour in the Kozminsky Symbol illustrates the “lifting of the fog” so that the bright red roses (red is the color of Mars and the sign Aries) and beautiful butterfly can lift the spirits with their color and grace. Cultivating the artistic impulse as you would a flower garden and allowing your finer instincts to emerge is highlighted here. It’s a good Symbol for the Sun in Taurus and the New Moon in Taurus to come. It’s about finding deep inspiration in the natural world, of being grounded in the body while channeling the spiritual impulse.

Tarot Enhancer/Antidote: Knight of Cups/Queen of Pentacles
I like this Water/Earth combination…the theme of finding the Holy Grail in the material world, in the things around us, by finding the soul that radiates from the center of everything on earth, every rock, plant, animal and person. This merging of a poetic searching nature with a profound understanding of natural cycles helps us realize that everything we’re searching for is right here (it’s that “be here now” moment). It’s also the combination of the Sabian Symbol of the flowing waters of the imagination combined with the Kozminsky Symbol of the burgeoning flower garden and butterfly. Or the Aries need to be on the move, changing and exploring, rolling into the safe haven of Taurus’ earthly pleasures to rest and refresh for a while before the next phase of growth begins. (It’s Aries’ ruler, Mars, dallying with Taurus’ ruler, Venus, before heading off to his next battle!)
