The Daily Astro for February 12, 2013

TODAY’S ASTRO:

We start they day with the Moon Void-of-Course in Pisces (see yesterday’s Daily Astro for more information), so some of the same energies are still swirling, at least until 8:51 PM EST, when the Moon enters rambunctious Aries.

Today’s theme: REQUIRED MAINTENANCE UPGRADE. We start off with Mercury in Pisces sextile Pluto in Capricorn at 1:00 AM EST. The early morning hours may be full of revelations. It’s like we got the Secret Decoder Ring in the big box of cereal. Things start making sense and mysteries are unveiled. We’re learning dead languages and speaking in tongues here. It’s also like the last few minutes of a film noir where the detective shows up and wraps up the plot with a monologue about who did what to who and why. It’s the “Oh, THAT’S it!” moment.

When Mars joins with Chiron in Neptune at 11:52 AM EST, we’re anxious to use this information to eradicate nasty patterns or (finally) vaporize the last vestiges of fear that hold us back. This is a restless energy; we keep digging until we find the key that opens the closed cabinet. At 2:15 PM EST Mercury trines Saturn, stabilizing the mind and enabling us to put together our very own DIY       (Do-It-Yourself) plan.

Looking over the day’s aspects, it’s easy to see that today’s the perfect day for deep healing and confronting flaws or wounds that have been tripping us up. It may finally hit us that the only thing that’s really holding us back is ourselves. Today’s the day to finally address those issues. When the Moon moves into Aries, use that energy to clear the air and make a fresh start in whatever area of your life has been stagnant. Exercise, bodywork, saunas/heat treatments, yoga and massage would work well today to release the clogged energy from our bodies. Just think of it as noted above, a “maintenance upgrade”!

THE SYMBOLS:

Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “A butterfly with the right wing more perfectly formed..”

The Sabian Symbol ties in with our “maintenance upgrade” theme today. This Symbol shows greater development of the right wing of this particular butterfly. The right wing signifies the conscious, rational side. The symbolism here is that we’re in a state of metamorphosis at all times. The changes in the right wing are part of our “upgrade” process. We all move at different speeds, it’s what makes us, like the butterfly, unique. Take advantage of what makes you unusual or different, it’s your calling card. Think about what makes you stand out in a crowd. The down side here is being so focused on being “different” that we refuse to cooperate or feel that we’re too “special” to behave like everyone else. Pay attention to anything unusual that happens today. Be aware of your environment and notice anything that’s out of the ordinary, especially if it’s being called to your attention in a dramatic or unusual way.

The Kozminsky Symbol features a victorious swordsman (he wins duels, so he must be  pretty good), destroying the sword that won the fight. This is a perfect image for today’s Mars/Chiron conjunction in Pisces. Here’s someone who is skilled in fighting (Mars) who realizes the pain he’s inflicting on others (Pisces is very empathetic) to the point where he feels it himself (Chiron in Pisces), and decides to end the game then and there through a decisive action (Mars again, and Mars rules Aries, where the Moon winds up later today.)

The key word, “reaction”, means he had to go through the process in order to understand what is at stake and how shallow “winning” can be if it results in pain and suffering for others. In years past, duels were fought to the death of one of the dueling parties–there was no turning back once the duel began. This Symbol shows someone coming face to face with the reality of violence and aggression and the consequences of following a warlike path.

THE DAILY DRAW:

Today I decided to pull a card from The Enchanted Map Oracle Cards by Colette Baron-Reid.

Today’s card is in the fourth row down, third from the left.

That card is  #9, Storm Fields. This card pictures a black and white checkered path leading to a house that is partially obscured by a very large storm cloud (it looks like the formation of a tornado). A cloudbank and rain are also depicted. In the foreground, along the path, a bee buzzes around some flowers.

Today’s oracle card also falls in line with today’s  “maintenance” theme. Something’s been building up and is about to let loose. Energy hasn’t been directed properly and needs a release. Storms can be violent and destructive, but they also bring rain, which is essential for growth, and they clear the air.

This card tells us that something is stirring and may bring an element of the unexpected into your life (keep an eye out for that unusual butterfly). In most cases, we need to shake, rattle and roll in order to get out of our ruts and try something new.
