The Daily Astro for October 8, 2012

The Moon’s in Cancer today, and it’s a Last Quarter Moon that’s void of course until the Moon enters Leo at 7:55 AM on October 9th. What this means is things are apt to be a little hazy today, especially since the Moon in its home sign of Cancer makes a stress aspect with out-in-the-ozone Neptune, the Sun and Neptune are also uncomfortably tied, and love and relationship planet Venus rumbles with anything-goes planet Uranus. Here’s a day that will make you wonder whether the people you’re close to are totally crazy, or whether it’s you! All this jarring, confusing energy is meant to zap you out of your comfort zone so you can take a look at what’s working in your life and what’s not. Which relationships are solid and which need to be pruned out of your life? You may be pondering these issues today. We may also feel that it’s out of our hands as bolts from the blue rock our world. We’re looking for security but the reality is that it doesn’t exist in the way we may want it to. It’s a good day to take it easy, sit on the sidelines, don’t get involved in psychodramas, and wait to move forward until tomorrow.
Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “A boat landing washed away.”
Kozminsky Symbol for today’s Sun: “ A large hole out of which gases are rising. A number of birds seeking to cross are overcome by the fumes and are falling into the gap, over which only one has passed safely.”

Keyword for the Sabian Symbol is: “Respite.”
The Keyword for the Kozminsky Symbol is “Subtilty .”

Both of these images play off today’s Neptune aspects. The Sabian Symbol of a boat landing washed away brings in those feelings of being unmoored, of feeling that our landmarks are eroding at we’re “at sea” as what we knew is being swept away. However, it’s one of those “reverse Sabians” where there are two levels of meaning. Here, the plus side is that there is opportunity even if situations that seem negative. There’s an emphasis on finding a new way, and finding solutions to seemingly difficult problems. The image also brings in the idea of things being “washed clean” or purified down to the basic or soul level. The Kozminsky Symbol, with birds being overcome by fumes (Neptune rules gases and fumes), also emphasizes a difficult journey, one that involves risks and being aware of the dangers that can take down those who are unaware. We need to pick up on the lightest scent and identify danger before we are overtaken. We’re also warned here not to take unnecessary risks, and be careful not to allow poisonous thoughts or ideas to seep into our psyche.

Today’s Card Draw:

This week I’m going with another Oracle Deck or two, today it’s Animal Spirits Knowledge Cards, with paintings by Susan Seddon Boulet.
Go to http://www.pomegranate.com/anspirknowca.html for more information about this deck.

Today’s Card is: SNOW LEOPARD

Keywords for this card are: STEALTH, STRENGTH, PURITY

The card tells us that leopards are great hunters “known for their stealth and ability to stalk prey”. The snow leopard, which is native to Central Asia, was believed to be able to feed off the blood of human victims without eating the flesh. By absorbing the life force in this way, the leopard was thought to maintain its strength and purity.

As a totem, the Snow Leopard is known for its ability to hunt silently, without broadcasting its location. It’s silent and endlessly patient, using energy efficiently. The advice here is not to talk about what we’re doing before we do it. Don’t reveal too much. The Snow Leopard also blends into its winter surroundings, taking advantage of the fact that others don’t really “see” it. Clairvoyance is also associated with the Snow Leopard. Leadership ability and large reserves of energy, is also indicated.

The qualities of stealth, of silent deadliness, are an echo of the image in the Kozminsky Symbol, above. The idea of the snow leopard blending into its surroundings mysteriously, of seeming to be something else, a part of the landscape, brings in a whiff of Neptune (heavily aspected today). This big cat is totally at home in its environment and knows it intimately (Moon in Cancer) and can strike unexpectedly (the Uranus aspect) at any time.
