Lunar Eclipse Full Moon at 15 Sagittarius

Let’s talk eclipse! This one’s a Full Moon Partial Lunar Eclipse at 15 degrees Sagittarius. Those of you with planets or important chart points at about 12-18 degrees of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) will feel this one the most. If you know where those degrees fall in your chart, the affairs of that house will be highlighted for you over the next several months. Venus and the Sun in Gemini form a square to Mars in Virgo today, the Moon and North Node are in Sagittarius, and if you stretch it a bit, Chiron in Pisces joins in, so you could say this arrangement is a Grand Cross, not the easiest of alignments. This means that the energies will be operating at times as though in a closed circuit, giving a feeling of frustration or of being trapped in a repeating track. With Venus and the Sun square Mars, there’s an emphasis on relationships between men and women, love and hate, peace and war.  We’re being asked to release patterns in these areas so we can make a new start, to stop repeating the old scripts. The Moon and the North Node in Sagittarius are pushing us to aim for the highest expression of our dreams and visions, and Chiron in Pisces tells us it’s time to wake up and help heal the wounds of the world . Complicating this is Neptune going retrograde today (through November 10). This can be a hugely spiritual influence, but at first it may manifest as deception, confusion and misunderstanding, so take care to avoid being trapped in fantasies or delusions and don’t let your longing for release and bliss take you down a path of addiction. When the Moon trines Saturn in Libra later this evening we may be able to wax philosophical about what we’ve been through during today’s intense eclipse period.

Today’s Symbols reflect some of the themes of the eclipse period. The eclipse falls in Sagittarius (the archer–note the soldier drawing the arrow from his arm), and since this is a Full Moon eclipse, by definition, it’s an opposition, so the Sun is in the opposite sign of Gemini. And children speaking another language is a good illustration of a Gemini/Sagittarius combination–talk, communication and children relate to Gemini and the fact that they’re speaking a foreign language is connected to Sagittarius. This combination seems to indicate that hasty words or actions have ramifications, and that we may be inclined to act rashly before we have the full story. The Dutch children understand each other, but it’s a “secret language” to others around them who do not speak it. In our haste, we may discover later, we have missed an essential piece of information or we may have acted too soon, before we had all the pieces of the puzzle.

“Lighting Dark Passages”. It’s time to open the doors and let the light in. Whatever we’ve been hiding, withholding, or trying to keep secret needs to be exposed to the light in order to heal. We’re entering the chamber of the Sun, but we have to leave behind any paranoid attitudes, fearful thoughts, and worries that we will seem vulnerable. There’s something we haven’t been seeing but now it will be exposed like a photographic negative. We can’t finagle or manipulate our way out of it this time. This eclipse will allow us to see our patterns and the games we play with ourselves more clearly so we can begin to make healthy changes.
