The Daily Astro for May 31, 2012
The Moon remains in Libra today, where it trines Mercury early on (be sure to write down any brainstorms/inspirations before they vanish), and then trines Venus at 2:30 PM EDT, helping to soften the rough edges of the past few days. Even though Venus is retrograde, its trine to the Moon can bring concord and emotional understanding, so take time and enjoy this peaceful easy feeling (Note: reference to the Eagles, who knew a thing or two about being laid-back!) We may also finally begin to understand old or repeating patterns in our relationships. Since we may feel “lighter” earlier in the day, try to relax and enjoy this breather. The Moon conjuncts Saturn later today, which is good for those who plan to burn the midnight oil with studies or projects, as it promotes a settled and serious mood. It’s not as good for personal relationships, since it may highlight vulnerabilities and intensify downbeat moods or pessimism. With the Moon void as well at that time, nothing much will result from discussions or confrontations after 9:31 PM EDT anyway, so give it a rest!
Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “ A new path of realism in experience. ”
Kozminsky Symbol for today’s Sun: “ Interior of a stock exchange, a number of men shouting, jostling each other, and holding up papers.”
The Keyword for the Sabian Symbol is “Identification ”.
The Keyword for the Kozminsky Symbol is “Hazard ”.
In reading about today’s Sabian Symbol, I found that one of the earliest versions of this degree mentioned “a new real-estate subdivision with wide paved streets”. This Symbol relates to becoming involved in day-to-day affairs, learning practical skills, and putting them to use. We can identify opportunities and take steps to make them manifest. The creation of a comfortable home and neighborhood with convenient roads can make life easier and more pleasant (see the Moon trine Mercury and Venus in Gemini–Gemini and the 3rd house are related to short trips, neighbors and neighborhoods, and the give and take of communication). The Kozminsky Symbol brings up issues of values, of what is important (Venus is related to values). The noise and commotion, the many voices all speaking at once (more Gemini!), the risk-taking (note the key word is “hazard”) are in strong contrast to the quiet, orderly streets of the subdivision illustrated by the Sabian Symbol, but both are supported and maintained by the flow of commerce and the movement of money. Today’s Moon-Saturn conjunction asks us to take a serious look at our commitments and emotional –will they stand the test of time and provide a firm foundation for us to build on, or are they sketchy and based on illusion, ready to crash as speculative stocks did in 1929?

Tarot Enhancer/Antidote: King of Wands/5 of Wands
We’re wrapping up what has been for some a stressful month (seeing the 5 in the 5 of Wands as May, the 5th month). This combination seems to bring in some of the Uranus in Aries energy that’s bouncing wildly about and describes our struggle with internal demons and all those things that need to be cleared out in order for us to move full-throttle into the future. This combination also means it’s time to get honest in our relationships, to step up and deal with wrangles and conflicts rather than avoiding them. This is a fire combination, so boldness and positive energy are required in order to infuse new energy into the situation. The 5 is an “everywhere at once” energy that’s reflective of the current Gemini planets, so we may be busy with a multiplicity of events and interests that distract us from more pressing “infrastructure” issues. Venus retrograde (in Gemini) sometimes finds us going over new ground, or re-encountering people who were formerly important to us, in order to resolve or end old relationships. So we may feel we are fighting the same battles over and over, at times, but it’s essential, and fortunately temporary!
