The Daily Astro for May 4, 2012

The Moon is in Libra until 10:20 PM EDT today, when it enters Scorpio and heads toward the upcoming Full Moon (16 degrees and 1 minute of Scorpio/Taurus).  A Moon/Neptune aspect early in the day can be inspirational or can lead us astray, keeping us mired in daydreams and fantasies rather than fully focused on the day’s events. But there’s healing vibes in the ethers as well, if we’re sensitive enough to pick up on them.  Subtlety is the key here–excess and inattention will bring problems in their wake.  We may be very concerned about our connections with others today and may have an almost telepathic ability to tune into others and assess their needs.  When the Moon conjoins Saturn at 2:02 PM EDT the mood gets serious and intensity builds during the next few hours as the Moon enters Scorpio at 10:20 PM EDT.  Moon/Saturn always brings up feelings of not being ‘enough’, or of feeling isolated emotionally and can sour our moods; add to that the depth charge emanating from the Moon in Scorpio heading full-bore to a Full Moon and the end of the day can be challenging, as we feel we have entered very deep waters–it feels like we are confronting every one of our worst fears at once. Be aware that attempting to manipulate or control situations due to fear or anxiety just won’t work right now; bone-deep honesty and releasing negative attachments is the only path.

Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “An old man attempting vainly to reveal the Mysteries .”
Kozminsky Symbol for today’s Sun: “A student with lamp in handing, standing at the entrance of a cavern from which issue clouds of soft, light, rosy vapour .”
The Keyword for the Sabian Symbol is “Pertinacity ” and for the Kozminsky Symbol it’s “Initiation ”.

I think both of these Symbols are relevant to the astrological aspects and tomorrow’s upcoming Full Moon in Scorpio. Note the idea of “revealing Mysteries”, the cavern with  that  ethereal vapor pouring from it—very reflective of the Neptune aspects we’re experiencing today, while the image of an old man is very Saturnian–he’s trying to reveal what he has learned, but is frustrated in the attempt. He will keep trying, though (Saturn is the taskmaster/wise teacher–we must keep going in order to learn our lesson, and it’s often a karmic one).  The cavern leading to the underground relates to Scorpio (its ruler, Pluto is in charge of the Underground and all things found there). This combination tells us that anything worthwhile is worth the risk and the effort, even though the task seems daunting. Both Symbols relate to spiritual awareness and revelations that will transform us totally if we are willing to take that first step.

Tarot Enhancer/Antidote: Queen of Pentacles/ 5 of Cups:
Here’s a polarity pair for the upcoming Scorpio/Taurus Full Moon!  The Queen of Pentacles is the Taurus axis, while the 5 of Cups corresponds to Pluto in Scorpio.  As noted above, Pluto is the ruler of Scorpio. This combo illustrates that we need to find a balance between being rooted in the world, in our physicality and desire nature, in material things, and learning to release attachment in order to purge ourselves on all levels and lose our attachments through transformation.  There’s an element of loss of betrayal here as we feel that we’ve been duped or had something taken away, as though the masks have fallen and we’re seeing what ‘is’ for the first time.  If we’re brutally honest (and with Scorpio there’s no other way), we realize we’ve betrayed ourselves and it’s past time to get real–and get honest– in order to deepen our relationship with ourselves and others.
