The Daily Astro for March 20, 2012

Happy Equinox! The Sun enters Aries at 1:14 AM EDT today, and the Moon remains in Pisces. This combination means we need to be compassionate warriors, using our energy and drive to assist others. This theme is reinforced by the Moon’s conjunction with Chiron (reflecting that the areas where we’re most wounded often become the site of our greatest strengths). The aspects that the Moon makes later in the day with Pluto and Jupiter urge us to channel our energy away from the personal and towards the collective. It might get tricky at times as the Moon also opposes Mars, Venus is in aspect to Pluto, and Chiron aspects the asteroid Eris, so the urge to overreact or “get into it” with others or sow discord can be at odds with our greater goals–that urge definitely needs to be purged!  With Mars (ruler of Aries) retrograde in Virgo, using the wrong tactics or miscalculating where the boundaries are can create problems that are difficult to heal.

This combo relates to the first degree of Aries, but is particularly appropriate now, with Uranus so close to the Sun in Aries. Both Symbols celebrate the seed point of all things, the very beginnings that issue forth from our psyche (“a woman rises out of water”), as they are ignited (the “ball of fire”) into action. Uranus is also called “The Awakener” and can usher in periods when things change rapidly and we need to learn to “surf the chaos” from moment to moment. The first degree of the zodiac starts the cycle anew, so the feel is “pure Aries”–pure potential–and a willingness to boldly explore this new world we find ourselves in.

These two show us the power in the center of the Uranian/Aries storm and urge us to keep honing our skills as we learn how to ride the waves of change.
