TODAY’S ASTRO:

The Moon remains in Pisces all day today, so we remain in “misty mountain hop” zone. The Moon forms a stabilizing trine to Saturn in Scorpio just after midnight EST, and Jupiter in Gemini squares Chiron in Pisces shortly after. It’s a good day to think about restructuring whatever needs to be shored up. Create more support and a stable foundation for who you are right NOW. You may feel nostalgic or are holding on to “leftovers” from previous editions of yourself; decide what best suits you and jettison the rest. You’ll give yourself more breathing room for exciting new activities this way.

In general, today has a contemplative/creative aura, but early and late (8:28 AM EST and 10:55 PM EST), there’s a bolt from the blue that can jar us into action–and out of our reveries. Sudden revelations can lead us to revise our plans. At 10:45 AM EST a Mercury/Venus aspect favors socializing, pleasant social events and meetings. “Power down” tonight before retiring, otherwise thoughts whirring through your mind may keep you up later than desired.

THE SYMBOLS:

Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “An oriental-rug dealer.”
Kozminsky Symbol for today’s Sun: “A man, gaudily attired, opening a document in the centre of which is a dagger.”

Both of these Symbols have an exotic feel. The man in the Sabian Symbol deals in expensive, intricately patterned rugs from distant lands, and the man in the Kozminsky Symbol seems to be in the middle of some sort of palace intrigue! The air of mystery that suffuses both Symbols relates to the Moon in Pisces. Something’s percolating in the background; we get a whiff of heavy perfume, the curtains are drawn and we hear muffled voices in the next room. The stage is set.

The Sabian Symbol ties into the theme of today’s Moon/Saturn trine. The merchant is dealing in valuable (and often old) rugs woven from established or standard patterns. He earns his livelihood by selling them at the market. The detailed patterns of the rugs relate to our spiritual path as we make our way through our lives, so the issue at hand is striking a balance between following our intended destiny and dealing with day-to-day responsibilities as they crop up. There’s also a warning here to be fair in our dealings with others, to make an even exchange and not let greed take over. Issues of balance are important here–a valuable oriental rug is designed so that the colors and patterns are in harmony to create a beautiful object that is also useful. Our ideals and spiritual values are put to the test here–do we walk our talk? An oriental rug in our home is a work of art, yet we walk across it every day–we don’t only take it out for special occasions.

The Kozminsky Symbol pulls in the Moon/Uranus aspects. A man in unusual attire that calls attention to itself (Uranus), opens a document and finds a surprise (the dagger). Is this a warning that a surprise attack may be imminent? Is this person a king or someone who is prominent in rank or function (fancy clothes) who finds himself at the center of controversy or conspiracy, perhaps within his own court? The Keyword, “Unrest” is a very Uranian term, and points to the possibility of sudden changes or revolutionary reversals. This Symbol has a “French Revolution” feel to it. There’s quite a bit going on under the elegant surface of things. Take notice of sudden changes and don’t ignore messages (the document) that come your way at this time.

WHEEL OF FORTUNE/ACE OF SWORDS

There’s our dagger from the Kozminsky Symbol! This combination certainly relates to today’s Moon/Uranus influence. Change is on the agenda–we’re in it (or in for it) now! When the Wheel shows up, we’re always in the process/in process.   A new cycle commences. Stay in the moment and be ready to change your mind and your life. This change may be sudden or abrupt (Uranus), and may involve confrontations with others as we shake free of old restraints.

It’s time to cut away illusions and move to the next phase of your life. This combination also relates to breaking old habit patterns (starting with clearing the cobwebs out of your mind), in order to cut  a path to the future.
