The Daily Astro for May 15, 2012
The Moon starts the day in Pisces, and we begin with a feeling of expansiveness and positive energy (it aspects both Jupiter and the Sun), and then Venus moves retrograde in Gemini until June 27. Venus retrograde means that it’s time to go back and think about our relationships, value systems, finances, and anything Venusian (art, beauty, jewelry and luxuries, and how we relate to others). You may also find that people you used to be close to show up again in your life during this period (particularly women). Since Venus is in Gemini, the emphasis is on how we communicate our desires and needs to others–we need to remember that how we speak and the words we use are important, particularly today as the Moon in Pisces squares Venus, leaving a large opening for confusion and misinterpretation if we’re not careful. The Moon enters Aries at 5:45 PM EDT today, and we want to push forward at top speed, but there’s a Mars/Saturn aspect too, which makes us feel like the brakes got slammed on suddenly. It’s frustrating, but all told it’s probably a good idea to take it slow and lie low this evening.
Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “A Spaniard serenading his senorita .”
Kozminsky Symbol for today’s Sun: “A giant of benevolent aspect, with his foot on a broken sword, tearing up the laws of the world by which men have been governed for centuries. Behind him are broken bags of golden coins, which are falling in a shower over a precipice .”
The Keyword for the Sabian Symbol is “Constancy ”, and for the Kozminsky Symbol it’s “Iconoclasm ”.
Both of these Symbols relate to today’s main event: Venus moving retrograde. The Sabian’s depiction of a determined courtship brings in love connection (and as Venus will trine Saturn, the determination and willingness to work hard to earn the affection of the woman he is serenading–the man has a plan), and the Kozminsky Symbol refers to things that are valued by the majority (laws, gold). Venus retrograde tells us it’s time to go back and re-evaluate the way we think about love, that which we value, and to make changes where necessary to our value systems. These two Symbols combining also make me wonder if we won’t hear news relating to upheavals in the financial market or connected with protests of the economic system that have been ongoing for some time.

Tarot Enhancer/Antidote: The Chariot/Page of Wands
This combination works well as an illustration of the Venus emphasis today (love, refinement, music, courtship) as well as the Sabian Symbol–the young man from Spain throwing all his energy into wooing a woman. He has a plan and he makes a bold move in order to catch her attention in order to initiate a romance (Page of Wands–the idealism of love, beginnings, being on fire with new energy). This fire energy (passion, inspiration, devotion) is directed (Chariot) towards a purpose, a future goal. I also like the idea of the strings of the guitar being harnessed much as the reins of the Chariot are guided by the charioteer. These two seem to have a bit of the ‘juggernaut’ energy around them, so they also relate to the Moon entering Aries with the Mars/Saturn aspect (there’s a need to ‘rein in’ the energy for proper effectiveness), and this Fire Charioteer also brings in the Kozminsky Symbol image of a commanding figure entering the scene and changing the order of things through sheer energy and inspiration.
