The Daily Astro for January 9, 2013

TODAY’S ASTRO:

We’re in the Twilight Zone today. The Moon remains in Sagittarius but it’s void-of-course. (The Moon enters Capricorn tomorrow at 3:54 AM EST). There are a few minor aspects, but the only more-or-less major aspect is Venus (which just entered Capricorn) sextile Neptune, and that occurs at 12:45 AM EST. Note for you late owls: as this is an inspirational/visionary aspect, it’s just a hunky dory ol’ time for writers, artists, film/photography people and anyone else working on a project that requires imagination and a creative verve. Nothing may come of it today, but it’s one fine day to exercise your powers of visualization and indulge your whimsical side. It’s also ideal for working on sideline enterprises, labors of love, hobbies and whatever pursuits you don’t normally find time for when life’s in accelerate mode.

Today’s Moon/Jupiter connection (remember the Moon’s in Sagittarius and Jupiter rules Sag, so it’s a double whammy of super-sized fun) may inspire overindulgence; you’ll get a chance to bitch yourself out for eating all that ice cream later tonight during the Moon/Saturn connection at 8:13 PM EST, which brings down the laissez-faire mood into BummerLand (which is like an amusement park where people follow you around and tell you to stop having so much fun).

THE SYMBOLS:

Sabian Symbol for today’s Sun: “ A child of about five with a huge shopping bag.”
Kozminsky Symbol for today’s Sun: “A large crab with its claws embedded in a seal.”
The Keyword for the Sabian Symbol is: “Expectation”.
The Keyword for the Kozminsky Symbol is: “Holding”.

Both of today’s Symbols have a “biting off more than they can chew” feel to them. The Kozminsky Symbol features a rather optimistic crab hanging on to a seal. It represents determination, a firm character, a certain stubbornness and a refusal to give up even when seriously threatened or overmatched. If this crab was a person it’d probably be Winston Churchill. The Sabian Symbol shows a small child taking on what normally is an adult responsibility. Again, there’s a positive, optimistic nature that aims high (note all the Sagittarius/Jupiterian keywords) and above all, is willing to take a shot at something that might seem to be above their current capabilities. It shows a well-developed sense of responsibility and concern for the needs of others. There’s also a spiritual element here (this allies itself with today’s Venus/Neptune connection) in the desire to help or be of service to others in any way possible. Both Symbols show a main character who refuses to be cowed by what’s “normal” or expected, who enjoys the challenge of taking “one step beyond”.

THE DAILY DRAW:

4 of Swords/Ace of Cups

Clearly today’s a “time out” day where the best course of action is to slow things down and work from the inside out. If you’re feeling tired or run down, it’s a good day to rest, convalesce or take a “mental health day”. (Remember what Elmer Fudd, Bugs Bunny’s nemesis, used to say: “West and wewaxation at wast!”)

It’s a good day for yoga or meditation, too. Go within and try to be still. Hold the pose, stop the mental whirring, s-l-o-w it down. This combination is all about healing. See a doctor if you have a health condition that’s been dragging on, investigate supplements or vitamins, look into psychic and emotional healing modalities. This combo also says that your hibernation stage is almost over–Spring is coming, and with it new possibilities for opening your heart and finding your own Holy Grail. You’re ready to move into a new and accelerated stage of emotional and spiritual growth after a period of feeling like you were “in traction”.
